Stonebwoy dismisses Grammy speculation over new album ‘Up & Runnin6’

Multiple award-winning Ghanaian artiste, Stonebwoy, has dismissed speculation that his latest album, “Up & Running,” was released with the primary goal of winning a Grammy Award.

At the album’s release party on October 23, Stonebwoy, who is the current TGMA Artiste of the Year, noted that prioritising an award over his fans’ satisfaction would be a “great disservice.”

He clarified that while a Grammy nomination and win would be welcomed, it was not the driving force behind the album’s creation.

“Really and truly God knows my heart…If it does happen to qualify and win, it will be part of the things that will speed up my art and craft but then it is not my sole intention that I am creating this album for the Grammys else if it doesn’t win then I think that I will be doing a lot of disservice to the people who are beyond award schemes; the fans, the loved ones and those who relate to the music for their personal life.

“I do not really do music targeting an award scheme. It is good when you qualify, etc but I don’t think it makes sense to think that I am doing this particular album for the Grammys.

“If it does qualify for all the features that I have done, of course we must receive it because it’s worth it,” Stonebwoy said.

Despite his impressive career, Stonebwoy, born Livingstone Etsa Satekla is among Ghana’s top musicians yet to receive a Grammy nomination.

Reggae musician, Ricky Dawuni is the only Ghanaian artiste who has earned a number of Grammy nominations. Unfortunately, he is yet to grab a Grammy Award after four attempts.
