2025 AFCONQ: It will be difficult for Ghana to qualify – Yaw Yeboah

Columbus Crew winger, Yaw Yeboah is skeptical about Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Black Stars’ hopes of making it to the tournament, which will be hosted in Morocco next year, are currently in jeopardy. With just two points from four games, Ghana sits third in Group F, making their path to qualification challenging.

With two matches left in the qualifiers, Ghana must win both games and hope that Sudan does not pick up any points to keep their qualification hopes alive. Despite the odds, Yeboah remains cautiously optimistic about their chances, acknowledging the difficulty of the situation.

“It’s going to be really hard, but everything is possible. I think we have to try our best, which will mean we win the rest of the games and see what happens,” Yeboah said.

When asked about his aspirations to be called up to the national team, the winger affirmed, “Every day, I want to play for the Black Stars. I am just waiting for the moment, and whenever it comes, I will be ready.”

Ghana’s qualification campaign started with a 1-0 loss to Angola, followed by a 1-1 draw against Niger. The Black Stars were then held to a goalless draw by Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium before suffering a 2-0 defeat in the return leg, played in Libya.

With two crucial matches left against Angola and Niger, Otto Addo and his squad will need to secure maximum points to keep their AFCON hopes alive.
