‘El Clasico’, the iconic rivalry between Real Madrid and Barcelona, will feature on Matchday 11 of the 2024-25 La Liga season.

Real Madrid and Barcelona will revive their intense rivalry at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Saturday night. These clubs have been battling each other on and off the pitch for over 120 years, but the mutual enmity remains as strong as ever, and we can expect another fierce clash this time around.
Los Blancos and the Blaugrana remain two of the leading candidates to win the league title, making this clash – as is almost always the case – a key battle in deciding who will lift La Liga’s trophy come May next year.
“It’s always the biggest game for me, for Real Madrid, and for the fans,” said manager Carlo Ancelotti. “We will look to play a complete game, with and without the ball. Barca have a great quality and they have shown a different energy under [manager Hansi] Flick, who is a coach I admire and respect.”
As for Flick, he is looking forward to his first competitive El Clasico after leading Barcelona to a pre-season friendly win over Real: “That game does not mean anything, it was only a friendly, and even though we won it, we still didn’t play in the way I wanted us to.
“We have made much more progress since and we are a better team, but of course we know that Real Madrid at the Bernabeu is maybe the ultimate test to face.”
The prospect of Real and Barca taking points off each other makes Atletico Madrid’s clash away to Real Betis on Sunday another key game to watch, while the likes of Athletic Bilbao and Villarreal will also look to make the most of their respective clashes against Mallorca on Monday and Real Valladolid on Saturday.
Betis will look to Giovani Lo Celso for inspiration, with the former Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur player enjoying some career-best form since returning to Seville at the start of this season.
“It seemed like I had never left,” said the Argentine. “I have very fond memories and as soon as I arrived they [Betis supporters] made me remember straight away. I have a very special affection for them and I try to return the affection and love on a daily basis and in every game.”
