NPP won’t lose middle belt seats – Dr. Ayew Afriyie [Video]

The Middle Belt Campaign Coordinator for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP’s 2024 campaign, Dr. Ayew Afriyie, has stated that the NPP would not lose any seats to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Middle Belt.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, he predicted that the NPP would capture one of the two seats currently held by the NDC in the Ahafo region.

He also indicated how the NPP’s decision to select Dr. Bawumia as its flagbearer has disrupted the NDC’s campaign.

“The NDC cannot campaign using tribalism and corruption,” Dr. Afriyie said.

He noted that, the Bono Region is looking favorable for the NPP, and he reaffirmed the party’s determination to recapture all previously lost seats in the region.

“NPP has already won the Akwatia seat. The NDC knows the seat is gone” he said.

Dr. Afriyie explained that, the campaign feels different outside of Accra compared to the capital.

“When you are in Accra, you might feel the NPP is losing power, but outside Accra, the picture is different,” he noted. We don’t underestimate any political party in this year’s election” he said.

He also addressed the controversy surrounding his remarks on illegal mining (galamsey).

“My comments on galamsey were taken out of context. The tape out there has been doctored.”
