The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has announced preparations for the 40th edition of National Farmers’ Day, set to take place on Friday, November 8, 2024, in the Greater Accra Region.
This year’s celebration carries the theme, “Building Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security,” underscoring Ghana’s commitment to adopting agricultural practices that address climate change challenges.
Leading up to the main event, Ghana will host a five-day National Agricultural Fair, known as Agrifest Ghana 2024, from November 4 to November 8.
The fair aims to highlight the nation’s rich agricultural heritage and provide a platform for farmers, stakeholders, and innovators to exchange knowledge and discuss best practices in agriculture.
The celebration will culminate in the prestigious National Awards Night on November 8, where President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will honour outstanding farmers in 16 categories, including the Overall National Best Farmer, National Best Livestock Farmer, National Best Female Farmer, and National Best Physically Challenged Farmer.
These awards recognize the invaluable contributions of Ghanaian farmers to the nation’s food security and economic growth.
The Ministry emphasized the urgency of climate change and its impact on sustainable agriculture, advocating for climate-resilient practices to ensure food security.
The National Farmers’ Day event will serve as a platform for promoting innovation and encouraging the agricultural sector to adapt to environmental challenges.
Ghanaians are encouraged to join in the celebrations, which will pay tribute to the resilience and dedication of the nation’s farmers.
