A total of 554 houses, shops, and nine cars were destroyed in the disaster that occurred last week at Gomoa Buduburam in the Central region.

Three people died on the spot, and 47 others were injured after a contractor working on the Kasoa-Winneba highway blasted a rock in the middle of the road, triggering the tragic incident.

Following the disaster, the contractor temporarily halted operations after Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan set up a five-member committee to compile a list of destroyed items and individuals affected by the blast.

During a visit by Adom News to the scene on Wednesday October 23, it was observed that the contractor has resumed work under police protection to prevent any possible reprisal attacks.

In an interview with Adom News, Gomoa East NADMO Director, Robert Hackman confirmed that 554 houses, shops, and nine vehicles were destroyed, based on the compiled list.

Mr. Hackman also mentioned that, NADMO is implementing measures to prevent another disaster, while the Police are actively patrolling the construction site to ensure security and prevent any further incidents.
