Hearts of Oak coach, Aboubakar Ouattara had a heated exchange with journalists after his team’s goalless draw against Dreams FC on Sunday.
The Phobians were aiming for a consecutive victory over the “Still Believe” side in their Matchday 7 encounter at the Tuba AstroTurf, but the match ended without any goals after 90 minutes of play.
The tension escalated during the post-match press conference when Ouattara was questioned about the team’s tactics.
The Ivorian coach defended his authority, stressing that all decisions are his responsibility.
“I am the coach, and I’m the one to decide. I don’t need you to advise me on what I can or cannot do. The way you’re speaking suggests you have the right to dictate something,” he said.
“You’re a journalist. You ask your questions, and I give you my reply. Don’t expect me to give the response you want—I am the coach. I am responsible for tomorrow’s match. If things don’t go well, I’m the one who signed the contract, not you. I don’t follow any commentary when making my decisions,” he added.
Despite remaining unbeaten in their last five games, Hearts of Oak have managed only two wins during this stretch. Meanwhile, the result leaves Dreams FC still searching for their first win after seven matches.
Meanwhile, the Phobians will face Bibiani GoldStars in a Matchday 8 clash at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 27.
