Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged his willingness to boost local manufacturing with his Buy Ghana First policy, which he said will revive local industries like the Juapong Textiles.
Continuing his campaign tour in the Volta Region, Dr Bawumia engaged with stakeholders including chiefs, the clergy and Imams at Juapong in the North Tongu Constituency.
In his address, Dr Bawumia explained that the policy will be backed by law, which will require that whatever the country needs to consume, will first be sourced from local manufacturers.
This he said was the only way the local manufacturer doesn’t have the products enough to supply Ghanaians, that importation will be allowed.
Dr. Bawumia said that Juapong Textiles is one of the local manufacturers that will benefit from such policies to bring back on its feet.
The acting Paramount Chief of Juapong, Togbe Kokroko Ananse Titriku III, pledged his support and that of his people, to Dr. Bawumia.
He expressed the hope that his leadership will bring development to North Tongu and the Volta Region at large.
