Richard Ofori has acknowledged that his exit from Orlando Pirates was inevitable, especially considering the events that transpired toward the end of his four-year tenure at the club.
The Ghanaian shot-stopper made only three appearances last season, with his last match over a year ago, as he lost his starting position to Sipho Chaine.
This marked the most challenging period in Ofori’s seven years playing in South Africa.
Since leaving Pirates, Ofori has signed with AmaZulu FC on a season-long contract.
“Most of the time, you need to give yourself time because you can’t just jump into opportunities that you like, like ‘this one there will be money’. Sometimes you need to take your time and reflect. I have done that and have been good” says Ofori as reported by KickOff.
“I played for Maritzburg (United) and then moved to Pirates and made the impact. “I knew the moment would come when you have to change places or move, so it wasn’t something new to me because I knew the day would come.
“But game-time, it is not about being a bad player, but you need to understand the situation because most of the time once you get injured, it is very hard, especially when the one playing is doing well.
“Those are the things that some of us understand about the game, so it is not something new. One thing about football is that sometimes you leave one club and then you need to get a new opportunity, new experience, new everything, but we know that about football,” he added.
