A 24-year-old man who made a passionate appeal to Ghanaians for financial support to aid his kidney treatment has successfully undergone surgery.
The young man, Kenneth Gyasi Adom went through surgery on June 26, 2024.
The plight of Adom who bagged a first-class degree from a university in India came to light in December 2023.
He was stuck in India and unable to return to Ghana due to his ill health and was in dire need GH₵240,000 before a transplant can be done.
He said he was diagnosed in the first semester of his final year in the university after travelling to India in 2019 through a government scholarship.
Adom explained that, the condition started off with a blurry vision and had to undergo several clinical tests which revealed that, his kidneys were damaged.
Following reports on the various platforms of the Akan Brands of the Multimedia Group Limited, several donations were made to support a worthy course.
Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem four months after the procedure, Kenneth expressed his heartfelt appreciation to God and all well-meaning donors who came to his rescue in his difficult moment.
He revealed that, he was hale and healthy despite still being on medications and is optimistic about his full recovery.
“I was scared when I was first told about the transplant but before it was done, the hospital helped me engaged some people who have gone through it and their stories inspired me a lot and that was how my fears disappeared. It was a smooth process and I woke up to find myself in the ICU with my caretaker nurse by my side,” he said.
