2024 election: 10 NPP supporters defect to NDC in Wenchi constituency

About 10 supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Wenchi constituency of the Bono region have crossed the carpet to join the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The decision was announced on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Nkonsia with about 49 days before the December 7 election.

This was during a campaign tour in the area by the NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia.

The defectors consist of branch executives, communicators, and supporters of the NPP within the Wenchi, Nkonsia, and other communities.

According to them, the decision to leave the NPP was borne out of negligence from the Nana Addo-led government towards the development of the area.

They stated equivocally that per the socio-economic direction of the ruling administration, the youth cannot be guaranteed a better future in the ruling New Patriotic Party since have been described as a stronghold for NPP but nothing seems working.

He rounded it up by stating, We have now located our roots, we don’t belong to the NPP.”

The National Chairman of the NDC Asiedu Nketia welcomed them into the party and urged the party followers that henceforth they should see the ten defectees as their own.

He, however, used the opportunity to call on whoever was willing to join the party, the party was ready to welcome them.

He urged the people to vote massively for the parliamentary candidates Alhaji Harina Seidu and John Mahama to come and rescue Ghana from the Nana Addo and Bawumia’s mess.
