The Black Satellites secured their first victory in the U-20 WAFU B Cup of Nations Championship with a 2-0 win over Niger on Sunday, October 20.

Ghana’s triumph was powered by two second-half goals from Aziz Musibau, which ensured a crucial win in their second Group A match.

After a 2-2 draw against Benin in their opening game, Ghana came into this fixture determined to earn all three points. Similarly, Niger was also looking for their first win, having drawn 2-2 with Togo in their first match.

Both teams started strongly, creating numerous chances within the opening 30 minutes, but neither could break the deadlock before halftime.

The breakthrough for Ghana came in the 63rd minute when Musibau unleashed a long-range effort that beat the Nigerien goalkeeper, putting the Black Satellites ahead.

Just 10 minutes later, Musibau doubled the lead. Positioned in the final third, he received a well-placed square pass from Jerry Afriyie and calmly slotted it home, securing his brace and stretching the lead for coach Ofei’s team.

Despite a determined response from Niger, the Black Satellites maintained their composure, defending solidly to keep a clean sheet and close out the win.

The result leaves Ghana with four points after two games, heading into their final group match against Togo on Wednesday, October 23.

This tournament also serves as a qualifier for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place next year.
