Jordan Ayew has hailed Chelsea legend, Michael Essien as the greatest Ghanaian player to ever compete in the English Premier League.

Essien had a remarkable career at Chelsea, playing a key role in helping the club win two league titles within his first five years.

He joined the Blues in 2005 under manager José Mourinho and quickly became a vital part of the team.

During his time at Chelsea, Essien made 162 appearances and scored 17 goals, contributing significantly to the club’s success.

Speaking to Showmax, Ayew expressed his admiration for Essien.

“There are many, but I always go for Michael Essien because of what he achieved in the Premier League and the trophies he won with Chelsea,” he said.

Ayew’s opinion is shared by his Leicester City teammate and fellow Ghanaian, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.

“I will go for Essien as well, he was a phenomenal player,” Issahaku told Showmax.

Throughout his time at Chelsea, Michael Essien won numerous trophies, including Premier League titles, FA Cups, the Champions League, the Europa League, the Community Shield, and the Carabao Cup.
