Black Stars coaching is beyond Otto Addo – Agyemang-Badu

-

Former Ghana midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu believes coaching the Black Stars may be too challenging for Otto Addo.

His remarks come after Ghana’s 2-0 defeat to Sudan in the second leg of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The loss has left Ghana in third place in Group F with just two points, putting their chances of qualifying for the tournament at risk.

In an interview, the U-20 FIFA World Cup winner expressed regret for previously supporting the reappointment of Otto Addo, stating that the coaching role appears to be beyond the capabilities of the former Borussia Dortmund assistant coach.

“I apologise because I advocated for the second coming of coach Otto Addo. If you listen to my past interviews, I gave him a lot of support, but I’m sorry,” Agyemang-Badu told Onua FM.

“It seems the task is beyond him,” he added.

Otto Addo was rehired in March this year on a 34-month contract with an option for an additional 24 months, replacing Chris Hughton.

The Black Stars will conclude their AFCON qualifying campaign next month with matches against Niger and Angola.

For Ghana to secure a spot in the tournament, they need Sudan, currently second in the group with seven points, to lose their remaining games against Angola and Niger.
