Vote out NPP over Accra flood mismanagement – Isaac Odamtten urges Ghanaians

-

Member of Parliament for Tema East, Isaac Ashai Odamtten, has criticized the Akufo-Addo administration for its inability to resolve the ongoing flooding crisis in the Greater Accra Region.

He called on residents and Ghanaians nationwide to vote out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming elections, pointing to the government’s inadequate response to the persistent flood problem.

He explained that clogged drains, exacerbated by rainfall, continue to disrupt the lives of residents and businesses.

In an interview on Channel One TV, Mr Odamtten accused the government of mishandling funds earmarked for the Ghana Accra Resilient Integrated Development (GARID) project, which was designed to address Accra’s chronic flooding challenges.

He emphasized the need for immediate and transparent action to resolve the issue.

“The Dzorwulu dam symbolizes the government’s deep-seated corruption. They initiated the GARID project, which included key areas like Odaw, Korle Klottey, Klottey Lagoon, and Sakumono Lagoon, aimed at enhancing Accra’s major drainage systems.”

Mr Odamtten explained that, expanding and aligning the city’s drainage systems would allow water to flow more freely, reducing flooding.

He urged voters to reject the NPP, stating that the government’s actions had worsened the situation.

Mr. Odamtten further argued that, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would be a more capable manager of flood issues, urging citizens to support the NDC in the upcoming December elections.
