The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that the finalized voter register for the 2024 general elections will be ready and released in the first week of November.
This update was shared by EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa at an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
Mrs Mensa assured stakeholders that, the Commission is dedicated to ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the register, which will include all eligible voters from the registration exercises conducted in 2020, 2023, and 2024.
The EC has been diligently addressing any discrepancies to ensure the final voter roll is reliable for the upcoming elections.
This move is part of the Commission’s broader commitment to promoting transparency and integrity in the electoral process.
“We have spent the last two weeks cleaning the Provisional Voters Register (PVR) to ensure the information is accurate. Simply put, we’ve worked to ensure that every applicant from 2020, 2023, and 2024 is included in the final register,” she noted.
“We are confident that the revised PVR is a significant improvement from the one presented during the exhibition exercise, with most of the discrepancies now resolved,” she added.
