Three people have been reported dead with about 36 injured on the Buduburam stretch of the Accra-Winneba highway.
The tragic incident was a result of a rock blasted by a construction company working on the road.
Information gathered by Adom News suggests the blasting lasted for a few minutes but caused extensive damage to nearby structures and vehicles
Irate residents in an interview said this was not the first time rocks have been blasted in the area but they are usually forewarned so they run to safety.
On Monday, they were informed the blasting will take place around 4:30 pm but for reasons they cannot tell, it occurred before 3pm, causing severe damages.
The residents who have gone berserk have vowed to ensure the construction is put on hold if it was poses this significant danger to their existence.
The injured have been rushed to the St Gregory Hospital in Buduburam where scores of residents have massed up.
