UG-Senior Staff Association and FUSSAG suspend strike

-

The Senior Staff Association, Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG), and the Federation of University Senior Staff Association of Ghana (FUSSAG) have called off their ongoing strike, effective Wednesday, October 16.

This decision follows an emergency meeting held on Monday, October 14, 2024, during which the associations received an official communication from the government addressing their key demands.

According to the letter, the government has approved new rates for the Vehicle Maintenance Allowance (VMA) and Off-Campus Allowance for eligible members of the associations.

Furthermore, the National Executive Committees (NECs) of the Associations indicated that the strike suspension would facilitate continued negotiations with the government to finalize discussions on the Conditions of Service (COS), which are already in progress.

The NECs also highlighted that other issues raised in the initial strike notice, including the migration of the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UNIMAC) to the Universities Pay Structure, are being actively addressed.

These negotiations are expected to conclude within two weeks, as stipulated in the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed on October 2, 2024.

The Associations have called on their members to remain patient and steadfast as leadership continues to engage with the government to ensure the resolution of their rightful demands.
