Police arrest five suspected landguards for encroaching on GSA lands

-

Five individuals suspected of being landguards have been arrested by the Police for allegedly trespassing on lands owned by the Ghana Standards Authority and Regimanuel Estate.

The arrests came after a visit to the sites by members of the Greater Accra Regional Security Council (REGSEC), who were responding to petitions regarding ongoing landguard activities and illegal encroachments.

Addressing the media after the arrests in Accra on Friday, Daniel Titus-Glover, Chairman of REGSEC, vowed to restore order in the region and take firm action against those involved in these unlawful acts.

“We are a country governed by law, not lawlessness. REGSEC decided to come here to witness the situation ourselves. Fortunately, some of the suspects were present, and we have apprehended them. They will be taken to the police for further questioning, and the law will take its course.

“…REGSEC is here to ensure peace and stability in the region. We will not tolerate ‘landguardism’ or any activities by miscreants that disrupt the peace. Our aim is for everyone to live in harmony,” he said.
