The Chiefs of the Likpe Traditional Area in the Oti Region have expressed optimism that their constituency will no longer be politically “orphaned” in the upcoming 7th December elections.
They have been denied the opportunity to vote in the 2020 general elections but believe this time will be different.
The Chiefs made this statement during a welcome address to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who visited as part of his four-day tour of the Volta and Oti Regions.
Speaking on behalf of the chiefs, Nana Bulley Osai VII, Nifahene of the Likpe Traditional Area, said the visit signified a covenant between the NDC and the Likpe people.
The chiefs also took the opportunity to appeal to Mr. Asiedu Nketia to help address local challenges such as poor road networks, limited access to potable drinking water, and the need to upgrade their CHPS centers into full health facilities.
They emphasized their hope that the NDC will win the upcoming elections and bring much-needed development to the area.
In response, Mr. Asiedu Nketia assured the chiefs and elders that, should the NDC be elected to power, their concerns will be addressed, and more development projects will be brought to the Likpe Traditional Area.
