Confirmed: Michael Baidoo, Francis Abu, two others receive late call-ups for Ghana v Sudan games

-

Elfsborg midfielder Michael Baidoo has earned his first call-up to the Black Stars ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

He steps in for Thomas Partey, who has been sidelined for the upcoming doubleheader against Sudan.

In addition to Baidoo, several other players have received late call-ups: Abu Francis, Jonas Adjetey, and Ibrahim Sadick.

Abu replaces Joseph Paintsil, while Adjetey takes the place of Kingsley Schindler. Sadick will fill in for Ibrahim Osman.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced on Monday night that Partey, Paintsil, and Schindler are unavailable for the matches due to various injuries.

The Black Stars conducted their first training session at the Accra Sports Stadium with 11 players, while the remaining invited players are expected to join the camp later tonight for a second training session on Tuesday.

The first leg against Sudan is set for Thursday, October 10, at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the return leg scheduled for October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.

Ghana is eager to secure a win after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Angola and a 1-1 draw against Niger in their initial two qualifying matches.
