The University of Ghana has addressed and dismissed a false and misleading message circulating about a supposed requirement for students in the Department of Computer Science to purchase Apple devices.
The fabricated statement claimed that students were required to buy Apple products to complete their studies.
In an official response, the University categorically denied these claims, assuring that no specific Apple devices are mandated for any academic programme. The institution urged students, parents, and guardians to disregard the false information.
The management reiterated its commitment to providing a technology-driven, people-centred educational experience, ensuring that no student is disadvantaged based on the devices or tools they choose to use.
The University also assured stakeholders that its academic processes remain transparent, inclusive, and aligned with its core values.
The confusion reportedly stemmed from an earlier fabricated message that cited performance issues in the Department of Computer Science due to the use of non-Apple devices.
This false report claimed that students using Android-powered devices were facing difficulties with software compatibility, which allegedly affected their academic results.
It suggested that Apple-powered devices were essential for improved performance and recommended students buy iPhones and laptops with specific specifications.
The University has urged everyone to verify any future information through official channels and avoid falling prey to such misinformation.
