Ga Mantse to grace Homowo in UK

-

The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, last Wednesday launched the United Kingdom (UK) version of the Homowo in Accra with a call on Ga  indigenes to lend a helping hand towards the development of the Ga State.

King Teiko Tsuru is scheduled to lead a delegation to London for the October 26, 2024 festival dubbed “Grand Homowo UK Festival 2024”.

The Ga Mantse said Homowo reflected a period of harmonious relationships, and urged the people of the Ga State to live the values of the festival by mending fences and uniting to pursue the common development and progress of their people.

The launch in Accra was attended by a delegation of Ga community leadership based in the UK.

Launch

The President of GaDangbe UK and Ireland, Dr Naa Tsotsoo Soyoo, expressed delight about the launch.

She said the Homowo UK Festival was a movement and a potent way to showcase to the world the vitality of African culture.

This year’s festival, she said, would push for partnerships and collaborations that would engender development among GaDangme people.

“We are dedicated to transform Homowo into a representation of hope and a rallying cry to end hunger, just as our ancestors once did,” she said.

Dr Soyoo said the festival would rally the people to find ways of improving the general well-being of society as a way of participating in the
development of the people and the country.

Ga Mantse

The Ga Mantse’s participation in the Grand Homowo UK Festival 2024 is intended to unify the front of the GaDangme society.

King Teiko Tsuru is expected to be received in the UK by notable leaders of royal status or high religious standing.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim community will welcome the Ga Mantse in a demonstration of harmony and solidarity.

The Homowo celebration is expected to be jam-packed with events, including a thanksgiving service to be hosted by the Christian Council of the UK and the Ga Fellowship.

The festival in London will take place at Borough Hall, Royal Hill, Greenwich.

It will feature traditional dances and authentic Ga cuisines, along with the rhythm of traditional drum beats.
