Mohammed Salisu earns spot in Champions League Team of The Week

-

AS Monaco defender, Mohammed Salisu has been named in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Week for matchday two, following an outstanding performance.

The 24-year-old centre-back played a key role in Monaco’s comeback to secure a 2-2 draw against Dinamo Zagreb at Stadion Maksimir.

Salisu found the back of the net in the 74th minute, heading in a corner from Maghnes Akliouche to reduce the deficit.

Monaco’s captain, Denis Zakaria, later equalized with a stoppage-time penalty, ensuring the French Ligue 1 side left with a valuable point.

This marked Salisu’s first UEFA Champions League goal and his first competitive goal for Monaco since joining the club in 2023.

Other standout players named in the Team of the Week include Barcelona’s Raphinha, Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi, Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez, and Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.
