-

Asante Kotoko secured a crucial victory over Nsoatreman FC in their rescheduled Ghana Premier League clash on Wednesday afternoon at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.

The match, initially set for Matchday 2 of the ongoing 2024/25 season, was postponed due to Nsoatreman’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Following a scoreless first half, the Porcupine Warriors took the lead just two minutes into the second half, with Elvis Kyei Baffour finding the back of the net in the 47th minute.

Kotoko maintained control throughout the match but were unable to extend their lead.

However, Nsoatreman were dealt a blow in the 78th minute when Daniel Amoo received a second yellow card, leaving Yaw Preko’s side to finish the game with 10 men.

The victory lifts Asante Kotoko to second place in the league standings with 8 points from four games, while Nsoatreman FC drops to 15th with just three points.

In another rescheduled fixture, FC Samartex and Bibiani Gold Stars played to a 1-1 draw at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena.

Emmanuel Mamah opened the scoring for Samartex in the 22nd minute, but Kelvin Oppong equalized for the visitors in the 75th minute.

Matchday 5 games are set to take place this weekend across various venues.
