Black Stars: We are taking it step by step – Majeed Ashimeru

-

Ghana midfielder, Majeed Ashimeru has expressed determination to persevere despite the team’s recent struggles.

Following consecutive victories in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic, the Black Stars have encountered difficulties in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches.

The Black Stars suffered a surprising 1-0 loss to Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium in their Group F opener and later managed only a 1-1 draw against Niger in Berkane.

Despite this rocky start, Ashimeru, who plays for Anderlecht, remains optimistic about the squad’s potential.

He believes that with continued effort, they can achieve great things.

“We’re taking it step by step, but I believe we can go far because we have some amazing players,” he told Flashscore.com.

“We’re just hoping for the best and will keep pushing forward,” he added.

The Black Stars are set to return to action in October, hosting Sudan for a doubleheader in the AFCON qualifiers.

Currently sitting third in their group with just one point, Ghana will face Sudan at home on Friday, October 11, before heading to Libya for the return leg at the Martyrs of February Stadium on Monday, October 14.
