The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Director of Elections and IT, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to allow live coverage of the upcoming Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Tuesday, October 1.
In a Facebook post on Monday, September 30, Dr. Boamah stressed that broadcasting the IPAC meeting live would promote accountability and keep citizens informed about the discussions and decisions that influence the electoral process.
He believes that this transparency will build trust in the electoral system and reassure Ghanaians about the integrity of the upcoming elections.
Dr. Boamah further argued that live media coverage would enable political parties to communicate their positions and concerns directly to the public, fostering a more inclusive dialogue among stakeholders and encouraging collaborative efforts to address any issues that arise.
“In the interest of the general public and Ghanaian voters, given the ongoing disputes between the NDC and the EC over the 2024 voters register, the EC should allow the media to broadcast the IPAC meeting live,” he wrote.
“A live broadcast will provide Ghanaians with real-time, unbiased information on the 2024 voters register following the EC’s so-called self-audit or correction of avoidable (criminal) errors and mistakes. It will also eliminate the risk of misinformation and misrepresentation after the meeting,” he added.
