The Presbytery Chairman of the Global Evangelical Church in Nkwanta South of the Oti Region Rev. Prince William Ahelegbe, has made a compelling appeal to the Electoral Commission (EC), urging the institution to permit a forensic audit of the electoral process to ensure peace.
This call comes in the wake of growing concerns regarding the integrity of the electoral system and the need for transparency to foster peace in the nation.
Speaking to a congregation at Kechiebi, he emphasised that a forensic audit would not only help to clarify any discrepancies in the electoral process but also restore public confidence in the EC.
According to him, in a democratic society, the integrity of elections is paramount therefore the Electoral Commission (EC) must ensure that every vote counts and that the process is transparent.
He believes that allowing an independent audit would serve as a crucial step towards healing divisions and building trust among the electorate.
The Presbytery Chairman made the call during the induction rites for Rev. Jonathan Sabah at Global Evangelical Church in the Kechiebi district in the Nkwanta South.
Rev. Ahelegbe urged the residents of Nkwanta South to engage actively in the electoral process, emphasizing the importance of their participation in shaping the future of the country.
He said it is essential for them to be informed, involved, and vigilant during elections.
He also encouraged Ghanaians to advocate for transparency and accountability, not only within the EC but also in their communities.
Also, Rev. Jonathan Sarbah urged political parties to be tolerant before, during, and after the December elections.
Highlighting the importance of respectful dialogue, he emphasized that differing opinions should not lead to division but rather foster constructive conversations.
Rev. Sarbah also called on church leaders and society at large to promote peace, urging them to engage in dialogue and collaboration.
He believes that a united front is essential for maintaining harmony and stability, especially during this critical period leading up to the elections.
