Democracy Hub protestors reply Police for tagging their actions as unGhanaian, uncivil

-

The Democracy Hub has issued a response to the Ghana Police Service’s recent press release regarding their ongoing demonstration.

The organizers firmly rejected the Police’s characterization of their actions as “unGhanaian, uncivil, and unlawful”, rebutting that their demonstration is a lawful exercise of their constitutional right to assemble peacefully.

In their statement, the Democracy Hub highlighted the irony of the police claiming to safeguard public safety while allegedly using excessive force and intimidation against peaceful protestors.

They categorically denied any allegations of violence or unlawful acts during the demonstration, stating that participants were consistently instructed to maintain a peaceful assembly.

The organizers also accused the Police of coordinating with groups affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to confront protestors, demanding accountability for what they see as intimidation tactics.

They called for constructive dialogue with the Police and reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful protest.

The Democracy Hub reiterated its determination to continue exercising their right to demonstrate, urging Ghanaians to join them in advocating for a just society.
