FC Samartex has been knocked out of the CAF Champions League following a defeat against Raja Club Athletic on Saturday.
The Ghanaian side faced Raja at the Stade Larbi Zaouli in the second leg of the second preliminary round, having drawn 2-2 in the first leg at Accra Sports Stadium last week Sunday.
The Timber Giants struggled from the start, as Raja dominated both possession and control of the game.
Just before halftime, Marouane Zila broke the deadlock, scoring for the Moroccan side and giving them the advantage in the tie.
After the break, Raja Club Athletic continued to assert their dominance, while remaining cautious in defense despite creating most of the attacking opportunities.
In the final minute of regulation time, Naoufel Zerhouni added a second goal, securing a 2-0 victory and sealing Raja’s place in the group stage with a 4-2 aggregate score.
With their CAF Champions League campaign over, FC Samartex will now shift their focus to domestic competitions, including the FA Cup and the Ghana Premier League.
