Suhum not shaken by MP’s decision to go independent – NPP PC

-

The Suhum New Patriotic Party(NPP) parliamentary candidate, Frank Asiedu-Bekoe is confident about his victory in the December 7 election despite the decision of the incumbent MP to go independent.

The sitting MP, Kwadwo Asante popularly known as Boafo is contesting as an independent candidate in the 2024 election after losing his re-election bid in the NPP primaries.

Mr Asante lost the primary in January 2024 to Mr Bekoe popularly known as Protozoa with a vote difference of 179.

Protozoa secured 496 votes while the incumbent MP had 320 votes out of the total valid votes cast.

The break away many believe poses a threat to Protozoa, who is currently the Director of Political Affairs at the Office of the Chief of Staff.

There have been concerns that such a development will dim the NPP’s fortunes and eventually affect their votes on December 7.

But speaking on Constituency Watch on Asempa FM Ekosii Sen, Protozoa is confident of victory.

“I know the work I have done and the track record of the NPP. This will not shaken us We continue to be the strongest political party in this constituency. If the MP had decided to come back, it would have been good but that did not happen. If soldiers are going for war, they don’t eat retreat because one member gets shot. We are moving forward,” he declared.

Protozoa added that, he is seeking to garner not less than 65% votes for the NPP.
