Black Stars drops in September FIFA World Rankings

-

Ghana has suffered a significant drop in the latest FIFA World Rankings following their recent poor performance during the September international break.

The Black Stars in the first two of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers came up against Angola and Niger.

The four-time African champions suffered a 1-0 defeat against the Palancras Negras at the Baba Yara Stadium before being held to a 1-1 draw against Niger in Berkane.

These results leave Ghana at the 3rd spot in Group F.

Following the release of the rankings, Ghana, who previously occupied the 64th position on the global rankings, has now dropped to 70th.

Georgia, Burkina Faso, United Arab Emirates, Albania, Cape Verde and Burkina Faso are the countries to have moved above Ghana in the global rankings.

The Black Stars have also dropped two places on the continental ranking as well.

They are now occupying the 14th spot with Burkina Faso and Cape Verde climbing above them.

In the CAF rankings, Morocco have now moved to the top with Senegal dropping to second. Egypt, Cote d’Ivoire and Tunisia complete the top five.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars will be reassembled in October for their matchday three and four games against Sudan in the qualifiers.
