God inspired my decision to contest for Presidency – Independent candidate

-

Founder of the Risen People’s Party (RPP), Apostle James Kwesi Oppong, has said his decision to run for President is not based on a personal conviction.

According to him, it is a divine calling inspired by a vision from God.

In an interview with Adom News, Apostle Oppong expressed deep concern about the current state of the nation, citing the declining standard of living, the depreciation of the cedi, and the rising unemployment rates.

It was based on these challenges that he said God revealed to him that he was the right person to lead the nation to success.

He added that, since 2019, he has been diligently preparing for this journey, navigating all necessary electoral processes, and he is now proud to have filed his nomination forms.

Apostle Oppong stated that, when sworn in as the next President of Ghana, he would prioritize improvements in the agriculture and banking sectors and create job opportunities for the youth.

Touching on education, he firmly expressed that he does not support the concept of free Senior High School (SHS) policy.

He argued that these students can contribute to their families’ incomes and help cover their fees, questioning the rationale behind the initiative.

Mr Oppong pointed out that this approach, along with other free programmes, has led to excessive borrowing from foreign countries and a significant national debt.

He has therefore said he will cancel the free SHS policy and implement free kindergarten education for all children, ensuring a strong foundation for future learning.

He also noted that his ministers will be appointed based on the Holy Spirit’s direction since truthful people are needed to serve the country.

The aspirant added he has begun engaging people to contest as Independent Members of Parliament (MPs) to ensure the smooth and effective running of his government when elected.
