The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of laying the groundwork to incite violence ahead of the December 7, 2024, elections.

The NPP claims that recent comments by Mahama and NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, are part of a plan to misinform the public and prepare their members for violent actions.

Addressing a press conference in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Jeff Konadu Addo, highlighted several remarks made by Mahama.

He referenced the former president’s recent hypothetical comments about clergymen, traditional leaders, and civil society organizations, which Konadu claimed were divisive and inflammatory.

Konadu also criticized Asiedu Nketiah’s campaign against the credibility of the Electoral Commission (EC), pointing to allegations of electoral fraud.

The NPP urged Mahama to refrain from using insulting language and to focus on promoting unity and ensuring peaceful elections for the benefit of the nation.

The NPP expressed astonishment over the NDC’s request for a forensic audit of the electoral register, despite Asiedu Nketiah previously condemning such moves.

Konadu dismissed the NDC’s concerns as baseless, asserting that the electoral process is safeguarded by measures to ensure its integrity.
