In a powerful display of unity and determination, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Oti Region has taken to the streets in a nationwide demonstration, rallying under the banner of “Enough is Enough.”

The protest, which aims to address growing concerns over the conduct of the Electoral Commission (EC), has seen significant participation with supporters, calling for transparency and fairness in the electoral process.

Speaking in an interview with Adom News, the Oti Regional Organiser, Suleman Mumuni, urged the EC to prioritise peace and stability in the electoral landscape.

“We are here to send a clear message that the people of Oti, and indeed the entire nation, will not stand idly by while our democratic rights are undermined,” he stated.

He emphasized the importance of a credible electoral process, which he believes is essential for the sustenance of democracy in Ghana.

The demonstration comes in the wake of allegations regarding the EC’s handling of voter registration and the management of previous elections.

The NDC Organiser also commended the maximum security presence during the demonstration exercise

Protesters are demanding accountability and a commitment from the EC to uphold the principles of democracy.

According to the demonstrators, they are not against the EC as an institution, but rather calling for reforms that will ensure that every Ghanaian’s vote counts.

The participants chanted slogans and carried placards, reinforcing their message of peace and reiterated the need for dialogue between the EC and political parties to foster a collaborative environment that prioritizes the will of the people.
