Two preferred bidders shortlisted for final negotiations on Saglemi Housing project

-

After weeks of evaluation and due diligence, transaction advisors Deloitte Ghana have informed the Government of Ghana that two firms have been shortlisted for final negotiations to complete the Saglemi Housing Project.

Following these negotiations, one of the firms will be selected to carry the project to completion.

Initially, at least 10 firms expressed interest in partnering with the government to finish the uncompleted project. By the close of the bidding process in July 2024, five firms had submitted bids.

The Ministry of Works and Housing is set to choose the firm offering the most favourable negotiating terms after the process.

Housing Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah emphasized that the government will remain focused and meticulous throughout this transaction.

Background

The Saglemi Housing Project began with a $200 million contract to build 5,000 affordable housing units.

However, by January 2017, only 1,506 units had been completed or were in various stages of completion, despite $197 million already being paid to contractors.
