NDC to hold nationwide protest over voter register ‘irregularities’on Sept 17 – Asiedu Nketia

-

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced plans for nationwide demonstrations on September 17, 2024, to protest the Electoral Commission’s (EC) handling of discrepancies in the voter register.

The party’s concerns arose during the recent voter exhibition exercise, where they discovered several irregularities in the register.

Following a meeting with the EC to address these issues, the NDC requested a forensic audit of the register, which was denied.

After submitting presidential nomination forms for John Mahama, NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia told the media about the planned nationwide protest.

On September 17, protesters will march to regional EC offices in all 16 regional capitals, while national executives will present a formal petition at the EC’s headquarters in Accra.

Asiedu Nketia stated, “On September 17, the NDC will hold a massive nationwide demonstration in all 16 regional capitals, where we will target electoral commission officers. In Accra, we will deliver a formal petition to the headquarters, urging the EC to conduct itself in a manner that ensures a peaceful, free, and fair election.”
