Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has assured the people of the Northern Region that the next NDC government will prioritize their needs and never abandon them.

Speaking at a large rally during the campaign launch for Haruna Iddrisu’s parliamentary bid in the Tamale South Constituency on Sunday, she emphasized that the NDC deeply values the unwavering support from the Northern Region.

She highlighted the NDC’s commitment to addressing the region’s development needs by creating jobs through initiatives like the 24-Hour Economy, the Big Push, and the National Apprenticeship Programme.

“Just as you have stood by our party, we are committed to standing by the people of Tamale and the Northern Region. Our next government will do even more for this region,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang assured.

Expressing gratitude for the continued support, she reiterated, “We do not take your loyalty for granted.”

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang pointed out that the NDC has consistently delivered transformative projects in the region, such as the University for Development Studies (UDS) and the Tamale International Airport.

Looking ahead, she promised that the next NDC government would address challenges facing Muslim communities, including the high cost of Hajj.

She also outlined plans to expand educational infrastructure in Zongos, including the construction of three new Islamic Senior High Schools across the Northern, middle, and southern belts.

Additionally, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang pledged to provide scholarships to students from Zongos and inner-city areas, focusing on fields such as law, medicine, engineering, and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

In her final remarks, she urged the people to continue their support for Haruna Iddrisu in the upcoming elections.
