The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission(EC), Jean Mensa, has assured the public that the review of nomination forms for presidential candidates in the 2024 elections will be conducted with fairness and transparency.
This follows the submission of forms by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Jean Mensa noted that sufficient time has been allotted to rectify any potential errors on the forms, if necessary.
Upon receiving Dr. Bawumia’s forms, she revealed that two dedicated teams have been set up to oversee the review process.
Dr. Bawumia, acknowledging the Commission’s challenging role, extended his best wishes to Mrs Mensa and her team as they prepare for the 2024 elections.
He was accompanied by his wife, Samira Bawumia, his running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and his wife, Alma Pokua Adade-Prempeh.
Several NPP executives, including National Chairman Stephen Ntim, General Secretary Justin Koduah Frimpong, Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, and other senior party members, were also present to show their support.
Later in the day, John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is expected to submit his nomination.
