Angola coach, Pedro Gonçalves, has acknowledged that Ghana’s Black Stars have become a more formidable team under the guidance of Otto Addo.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against Ghana, the Portuguese coach praised the improvements in the Black Stars’ performance.
The game is set to take place at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday, September 5, with a kickoff time of 16:00 GMT.
Gonçalves recognized the challenge posed by the four-time African champions but expressed confidence in his team’s ability to compete with Otto Addo’s squad.
“Otto Addo gives Ghana more flexibility in formation. They can play in a line of five in the back or play in the line of four,” Gonçalves said.
“I think Ghana is stronger right now, but we are also much stronger,” he added.
Despite suffering a loss and a draw against Nigeria and Uganda in international friendlies in March, the Black Stars, under Addo’s leadership, bounced back with consecutive victories over Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR) in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in June.
