The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is keenly focused on the upcoming December 7 general elections, according to Bolgatanga Central MP Isaac Adongo.
He revealed the extensive preparations the main opposition party has undertaken to prevent the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) from manipulating the election in their bid to break the two-term political cycle.
In an interview on Class FM, Monday, September 2, 2024, Adongo praised the efforts of the former Communications Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and his team for their significant work, which is already showing promising results.
“When we were conducting the voter registration, they meticulously collected data on the electoral register, covering every polling station and constituency—who registered, how many registered, and so on,” Adongo explained. He added that they even tracked daily vote transfers, a level of detail previously unseen. “With this data, they can press the Electoral Commission to rectify any anomalies.”
Adongo said the NDC is committed to ensuring a transparent election, and expressed confidence in the team led by Dr. Omane Boamah to oversee the process effectively.
As the December 7 elections approach, the major contenders are the NDC, led by former President John Dramani Mahama, and the NPP, led by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
