St. Rose’s Old Students Association (ROSA) has officially handed over a newly constructed dining hall to the school.
The project, worth GHS480,000 was spearheaded by the 1983, 93/95, 1993, 2003, and 2013 year groups.
The new facility, unveiled during this year’s Annual Thanksgiving celebration, addresses the pressing need to accommodate the school’s growing student population of over 1,700.
In a statement issued by ROSA, it said the previous dining hall had become inadequate for the expanding student body.
“Construction began on February 15, 2024, with contractor Freemaks at the helm. The project involved demolishing the old structure, clearing the site, and building a new substructure.
Despite the ambitious scope, the team completed the work within six months, meeting the timeline set by the funding groups,” it said.
According to the release, the project demonstrates the incredible impact alumni can have when there is collaboration.
“We’ve not only eased congestion but created a multi-purpose space that will benefit both the school and the wider community,” the release added.
The Headmistress of the school, Marian Esi Jackson, expressed her gratitude for the new dining hall.
“This facility is a game-changer for our school. It does not only solve our immediate space concerns but also provides a modern, multi-purpose area that will enhance our students’ daily experiences,” she said.
She further emphasized the impact of alumni support on the school’s development saying “the dedication of our old students is truly inspiring, their investment in our school’s infrastructure directly contributes to the quality of education we can provide.”
