Ahoufe” is expected to resonate with fans of the genre, as it captures the essence of Afro-drill’s unique sound while reflecting Darks’ personal style.

According to him, this track is meant to express African beauty and its simplicity. “Ghanaian women don’t need to do very much to look good. Also I wanted to express youthfulness and fun”

Speaking about the genre he said, “prior to this song, I was experimenting with different sounds but now I think I have found my own lane that I enjoy which is “Afrodrill”. There is a bit more Afro in my style now. As much as I am very versatile, I do like to show people that I’m proud of where I’m from.”

“Blending the Twi with English was quite easy for me as I’m fluent in both. However, knowing the right balance of both styles was the tricky part, I’ve had the best of both worlds, Ghana and UK. So my sounds is equally influenced by both,” he added.

He recalled that, music legend Sarkodie motivated him to explore genres and try something new, “Sarkodie once told me to “never put myself in a category” i.e (I only do Afrodrill songs). It’s definitely good to have a lane and uniqueness but I do feel like you carry that uniqueness with you regardless of what sounds you explore.”

Darks is yet to drop other masterpieces, “I’m working with one of the biggest producers in Ghana known as Atown. So the music will keep coming and hopefully you’ll be seeing me on your big stages very soon.”

He started appreciating music from childhood “I’ve seen it change for the better. I’m seeing many talented individuals doing their thing. Being able to break unimaginable boundaries and making the industry grow.  Songs are sounding better and better and music videos are getting more creative. I’m just here to make and share music that I like and help the industry grow. We’re taking Ghana music international.”

“I remember being so young listening to Ofori Amponsah, and Kk Fosu then the next song that would play would be by WestLife. I’ve had many inspirations throughout my music journey but the main two guys are Sarkodie and Lil Wayne because those were my favourite growing up,” he added.

Darks promises some features some of the familiar names in the industry and an upcoming captivating music video for ‘Ahoufe’ and his other yet to be released music video.

He advised young musicians to love the journey more than the destination because a man who loves walking will always walk further than the one who loves the destination.
