An officer with the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) and his wife were subjected to a terrifying robbery at gunpoint in their home at Kasoa Crispo City, located in the Awutu Senya East Municipality.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, around 2:30 am, while the family was asleep.
The armed assailants, brandishing guns and cutlasses, forcefully broke into the house, catching the couple completely off guard.
The intruders quickly overpowered the officer and his wife, tying them up to prevent any resistance.
The robbers then ransacked the home, making off with a Toyota Corolla with the registration number GX 1651-20, several mobile phones, and two television sets.
They also demanded the couple’s Mobile Money (MoMo) pin. When the victims couldn’t provide the pin, the robbers taped their mouths with sellotape before fleeing the scene.
The officer, whose name has been withheld for security reasons, expressed the deep trauma that the family has endured as a result of the incident.
He described the experience as harrowing and noted the lasting impact it has had on their sense of safety.
The identities of the victims have been kept confidential to protect their security.
Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the robbery and are actively working to track down the perpetrators.
Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects involved in this violent crime.
