The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has duly launched its manifesto for the 2024 elections.

Themed ‘Change To Reset Ghana‘, the manifesto outlined a comprehensive plan to reset Ghana’s economy, alleviate economic hardships, and promote good governance.

Speaking at the launch in Winneba, the NDC’s flagbearer, former President John Mahama, bemoaned the “abysmal performance,” of the incumbent government.

He among other things pledged to restore Ghana’s economy through a series of measures, including a National Economic Dialogue, tax rationalisation and emergency measures to stabilise the Ghana cedi.

Mr Mahama also promised to investigate the NPP’s “opaque Gold-for-Oil deal” and review the Gold Purchase Programme of the Bank of Ghana.

The manifesto also promised support for small businesses, women entrepreneurs, and artisans through various programs and incentives.

For the health sector, the NDC plans to uncap the National Health Insurance Levy, prioritize healthcare, and establish a Ghana Medical Care Trust Fund to support persons with chronic diseases.

The NDC also promises to expand health infrastructure, restore the automatic employment of health workers, and construct modern hospitals in underserved areas.

The manifesto also touched on the NDC’s commitment to implement a “No-Academic-Fees” policy, provide financial assistance to continuing students, and expand infrastructure for tertiary students.

Other key areas include modernising agriculture, promoting good governance, combating corruption, transforming education, and promoting responsible mining for sustainable development.
