Voter exhibition exercise records low turnout in Oti Region

-

The voter exhibition exercise is yet to record a high turnout in the Oti Region, as only a handful of voters showed up to verify their names on the Electoral Commission (EC) voter register on the first day.

The EC has launched the exercise nationwide for eligible voters to verify their details.

During a visit to some exhibition centers, particularly in the Nkwanta South constituency, Adom News’ Obrempongba Owusu observed that only a few officials were present, with a small number of voters checking their names.

He also noted the presence of security personnel at each polling station visited to ensure the safety of both officials and those verifying their names.

At the Nkwanta M/A JHS A center A, B, there were no activities at the time of the report, with only nine people having verified their names.

In an interview, some voters who were at the center to check their names said it was important for them to do so to ensure they can vote in the December elections. They urged others who had not yet verified their names to do so to make informed decisions.

The Nkwanta South NDC constituency chairman, Prosper Akamani, also encouraged residents to check their names on the voter’s register.

He stressed the importance of every eligible voter fully participating in the December elections to vote out what he described as the “incompetent” Bawumia and the NPP government.

The chairman pointed out that, the high cost of living in the country is unbearable, making it essential for voters to verify their names and prepare for the elections.
