The Christ Apostolic Church International (C.A.C.I) is holding a funeral service today [Saturday, August 17, 2024] for their former Chairman, Apostle Samuel Kofi Asare, at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra.
Apostle Kofi Asare, who was born in 1941, served as the Chairman of the church from 1987 to 2001.
He entered the ministerial work in 1964 after he had applied for consideration in March 1963. He had his early training under the late Apostle P. N. Anim, the Founder of Christ Apostolic Church at Teshie.
His training involved long dry fasting, long Prayer Sessions and all-nights to unearth more of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The late Apostle Samuel Kofi Asare Bediako (Rtd), when he knew he was going to be with his Maker, gave his last instruction which was, “Bring Chairman Apostle Samuel Amponsah-Frimpong to me. I want to eat the Lord’s Supper.”
Apostle Samuel Amponsahth Frimpong responded to his call on Monday, 17 June, 2024; and was served with the Lord’s Supper. Afterwards he thanked him, Apostle Samuel Amponsah-Frimpong, thrice and sang spiritual songs. On the evening of the next day, Tuesday, 18 June, 2024 Apostle Kofi Asare passed on quietly to be with the Lord.
Biography
The Late Apostle Samuel Kofi Asare (Rtd) was born on 5 April, 1941 at Atiedu, a village in the Suhum District of the Eastern Region of
Ghana. He was the second born of the ten children of Opanyin Sampson Kwasi Lartey and Madam Rosina Asabea, all of blessed memory.
The parents were both cocoa farmers and natives of Boso.
He had his elementary School education at Suhum where he obtained his Middle School Leaving Certificate in 1961.
After Middle School, he joined his parents as a farmer and moved with them to Kwae for a fortune in a newly developing cash crop Oil
Palm project.
At Kwae, he was fortunate to live with his uncle who was a Prophet and also a pioneer of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost at Berekuso, near Asamankese He was not initially enthused about church activities.
However, he joined the village brass band that moved from place to place to perform. That earned him some income. Also, he did some other menial jobs to argument his earnings.
His conversation
One day, as the brass band was travelling to perform, the vehicle was involved in a fatal accident, which nearly ended his life. It was after the accident that he became converted and accepted the LORD Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. He was transformed and gave up the hopeless and worldly life he was living. Soon, he was touched by the Holy Ghost and in the later part of 1962, he was made the Local Secretary of Kwae C.A.C. Assembly.
Appointments and positions
After his training, he was appointed and posted to Akomadan as his first station in 1965 where he pastored for nearly six (6) years.
In 1975, he was appointed a Regional Pastor and posted to Takoradi in the Western Region; and in 1983 he was transferred to Kumasi, also as the Regional Pastor for Ashanti Region and part of Western Region. In 1986, he assumed the role of Field Supervisor and later in 1987, the General Council of the Church elected him as the Chairman. For fourteen years, Apostle Samuel Asare led Ghana’s first Pentecostal Church until his retirement in 2001.
Apostle Samuel Kofi Asare (Rtd) dedicated an impressive thirty-seven years to the Christ Apostolic Church International. During this time, he served in various capacities, including District Pastor, Regional Pastor, Field Supervisor, and ultimately as Chairman. His unwavering commitment deserves our heartfelt recognition.
Travels
When he became the Chairman of the Church, he had to travel extensively throughout Ghana. In addition, he got the opportunity to travel outside the country for various Executive assignments. Countries visited included Nigeria, Togo, Cote D’Ivoire, United States of America (USA), Germany and Israel.
Marriage
In 1966, he got wedded at the Agona Swedru Branch of the Church to his life partner, the Late Mrs. Mercy Asare who was his dear wife, companion and counsellor throughout his ministry.
