Theft of streetlight components hindering progress at Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange

-

Consultants working on the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange project have raised concerns about the ongoing theft of streetlight components and other crucial materials from the site.

While these thefts are not expected to delay the project’s scheduled completion in September, the consultants are calling for a national effort to secure construction sites across the country.

The resident engineer informed Channel One News that the stolen items include streetlight components, bolts, nuts, railings, and metal slabs.

This rampant theft is not only slowing down progress but also jeopardizing the safety and quality of the project.

Accra has long struggled with malfunctioning streetlights, and the theft of vital components is worsening the situation.

In response, the consultants are urging immediate action to protect construction sites and prevent further losses.

Despite these setbacks, the project is still on track for completion in September.
