FC Samartex, Nsoatreman FC to pocket $50,000 each in prelims of CAF inter-club competitions

-

Ghanaian clubs FC Samartex and Nsoatreman FC will each receive $50,000 for the preliminary rounds of the CAF inter-club competitions.

This financial support, announced by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), is part of an effort to bolster financial assistance for teams participating in the early stages of the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup.

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe initiated this move to enhance African club competitions and ensure that more teams benefit financially, even before reaching the group stages.

Previously, only teams that advanced to the group stages received prize money.

This change aims to motivate more clubs to compete in continental tournaments and improve the overall quality of football across Africa.

CAF has been increasing its investment in African club football, with the champions of the CAF Champions League now earning $4 million and the CAF Confederation Cup winners receiving $2 million.

FC Samartex, the Ghana Premier League champions, will compete in the CAF Champions League against Cameroonian side Victoria FC.

Meanwhile, FA Cup champions Nsoatreman FC will face Chadian team Elect Sport FC.

This financial backing underscores CAF’s commitment to supporting growth and competitiveness in African football at all levels.
