CAF Confed. Cup: Raise the flag of Ghana high – Kurt Okraku tells Nsoatreman FC

-

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Okraku, has urged Nsoatreman FC to “raise the flag of Ghana high” as they prepare for their debut in the CAF Confederation Cup.

As the reigning Ghana FA Cup champions, Nsoatreman FC is set to take on TP Elect Sport from Chad in the tournament’s first preliminary round.

The first leg will be held at the Accra Sports Stadium on August 16, with the return leg scheduled for August 25 at a neutral venue in Cameroon.

This change of venue is due to TP Elect Sport’s home ground, the 20,000-seater Stade Omnisports Idriss Mahamat Ouya in N’Djamena, not meeting CAF’s standards for hosting international matches.

During a visit to the team, President Okraku addressed the players and technical staff, emphasizing the importance of their upcoming challenge.

“You carry the hopes of over 30 million Ghanaians. I urge you to stay focused and dedicated in your training,” he said.

He further highlighted the significance of competing on the continental stage, stating, “Playing in Africa offers immense opportunities. It is my sincere hope that you will represent our country with pride and elevate Ghana’s status in this competition.

“Medeama and Dreams performed admirably last time, and we are optimistic about your chances in the CAF Confederation Cup,” he added.

The winner of the Nsoatreman FC vs. TP Elect Sport tie will advance to face either Algeria’s CS Constantine or Rwanda’s Police FC in the second round, with a spot in the group stages at stake.
